Linda Kevins, Vice President, serves as Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. Robert Ross, the Supervising Judge of the Matrimonial Center of the Nassau County Supreme Court, a position she has held since 2005.  As the Judge’s primary  advisor, she assists in the management of eight matrimonial parts and the supervision of more than seventy judicial and non©judicial personnel.  In addition, she assists in the development and operation of the Model Custody Part, Children Come First Initiative, and the development of the Matrimonial ADR Program.  In 2008, Ms. Kevins was recognized by the Matrimonial Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association as the recipient and honoree of the first “Rick Keidel Memorial Tribute”.
 
Prior to serving as law clerk, Ms. Kevins was appointed a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney serving from 1998 through 2005, where she assisted in the development of Suffolk County’s first Domestic Violence Part, and also served in the Appeals Bureau and the Family Crime Bureau, prosecuting many domestic violence and child abuse cases, including a defendant featured on television’s “America’s Most Wanted.”
 
Recognized for her professional and civic leadership, Ms. Kevins was honored as a member of “The Gallery of Distinguished Graduates” of Empire State College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  She also received the “Advancement of Women in the Law” award upon her graduation from Hofstra Law School where she co-founded Hofstra Law Women and served as its president for her three year tenure.  In 2006, Ms. Kevins was honored as “The Hofstra Law Women Distinguished Alumna of the Year” for her continuing support of women in the law.  In 1998 she was the recipient of the North Shore SEPTA Award for her work with families with special needs children.  Ms. Kevins and her family also received the Suffolk County Legislature Proclamation for “Hands Across the Sound,”  - an event in which her five children swam across the Long Island Sound from Long Island to Connecticut to raise awareness and funds for  SEPTA.
 
Ms. Kevins has organized and developed many cutting edge programs to highlight and advance issues affecting women, including “Family Friendly Work Environments in the Public Sector,” “Leadership: A Women’s Impact Overcoming Challenges and Trailblazing Triumphs,” and, most recently, “Ready, Set, Lead! Empowering Women in the Political Process,” featuring the Hon. Sandra Day O’Connor, Marie Wilson of The White House Project, CNN Reporter Sandra Endo, and the County Chairs of all major political parties.  The latter sparked a momentous and progressing movement to advance women leaders in all fields of endeavor.
 
Ms. Kevins is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Court for the Eastern District.  She is an active and sustaining member of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association and also the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association where she served as a Director.  She is a member of numerous organizations, including the Nassau County Women in the Courts Committee, the PEACE Steering Committee, the National Association of Women Judges, and ZONTA – a global women’s organization of business executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.   Ms. Kevins has served as WBASNY Vice President, Recording Secretary, and on WBASNY’s Judiciary/Courts and Matrimonial/Family Law Committees.
 
Ms. Kevins is married for thirty-four years to James Kevins, Esq. and has raised five wonderful children.
