It is reported that many young women are sexually exploited in the entertainment industry in Japan. The investigation conducted by Human Rights Now revealed that there have been a number of cases in which young women, who never intended to appear in pornographic videos, were forced to have multiple sex in front of camera for pornography film after being recruited as “ model” or “ idol star” and signing contracts with their agents. In case these women reject, they are threatened to charge huge amount of penalty fee, reveal privacy to their parents and school, and coerced into performing unconsented sexual acts in public display and to later circulate these pornographic videos on the internet. The systematic practices constitute grave violation of human rights of women and girls, serious sexual violence against women. It is indeed contemporary form of slavery. This event will highlight the situation in Japan by survivor’s interview video and report of investigation.
