DESCRIPTION:Children’s Rights Committee presents \n\nThe Attorney for the Child’s Dilemma: When to Substitute Judgment \n\nMarch 24\, 2025 \n\n1:00 – 2:00 pm \n\nAttorneys for Children (AFCs) are required to advocate for the wishes of their clients by Rule 7.2 of the Rules of the Chief Judge\, but in certain circumstances are permitted to substitute judgment for the minor child. This session will delve into the considerations governing the difficult decisions justifying such circumstances\, including a survey of the applicable case law. A panel of experienced AFCs from different parts of the State will discuss these important issues. The program will be useful not only to attorneys who practice as AFCs\, but also to other family and matrimonial attorneys representing the parties to an action where an AFC has been appointed to represent the child. \n \nRobin D.
