Andrea F. Composto, Esq., Immediate Past President, is a partner at the Law Offices of Composto & Composto together with her father, Frank A. Composto, Esq. The firm was founded in 1932 by Andrea’s grandfather, the late Honorable Frank Composto, making Ms. Composto the third generation of members at the firm. The Law Offices of Composto & Composto is a general practice law firm located in Brooklyn Heights, concentrating in all areas of civil litigation, personal injury, commercial law, real estate, wills and probate administration.

Ms. Composto is a graduate of Le Moyne College (1996) where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Theater Arts. She received her J.D. from Albany Law School in 2002 as well as being a recipient of the Friedman Prize for Academic Excellence in Family Law. Ms. Composto was admitted to the New York State Bar, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department on June 11, 2003 and to the United States District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York in July 2003. In 2006, Ms. Composto was admitted to the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Composto worked for the New York State Legislature. In 1997, Ms. Composto was employed by Assemblyman Philip M. Boyle as his Chief of Staff. In 1998, Ms. Composto became Constituent Supervisor to Assemblyman James N. Tedisco. In 1999, Ms. Composto gained employment as a Confidential Assistant to Governor George E. Pataki under the direction of James Natoli, the Director of State Operations.

Ms. Composto is very active in her legal community. In 2010, Ms. Composto became a WBASNY Officer holding the position of Recording Secretary. Since then, she has held the Officer positions of Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, President-Elect and President. Prior to becoming a WBASNY Officer, she served as a committee member on the State Legislation Committee, Membership Committee and Domestic Violence Committee. On the chapter level, Ms. Composto has served in an officer capacity for the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) holding positions of Recording Secretary, Treasurer (2 terms) and Vice President (2 terms). She has chaired numerous chapter committees and has been a member of the BWBA since 2003. Ms. Composto is also a member of the Rockland County Women’s Bar Association. In addition to her service with WBASNY, Ms. Composto is the Immediate Past President of the Columbian Lawyers Association of Rockland County, a Chapter her father founded in 2003. She is a member of the Brooklyn Bar Association; member and Director of the Rockland County Bar Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association of Kings County, The Kings County Catholic Lawyers Guild; and a member of Lambda Legal and LeGal.

In addition to her contributions in her legal community, Ms. Composto has volunteered for her collegiate alma mater in student recruitment, alumni outreach, and for Le Moyne College’s C.A.R.E. Program (Creating Awareness, Respect and Equality) as an alumni mentor. In her “spare time” Ms. Composto enjoys working in her garden and attending the theatre. She lives in Nyack, New York with her wife, Beth E. Brown.
