The Education Committee of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York promotes awareness and engagement in legal issues in education, including the right to an education, access to educational opportunities, and the right to be free from discrimination in educational settings. The Committee focuses on the evolving legal landscape under New York and federal law, especially with respect to Title IX, IDEA, the ADA, Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act, ESEA, FERPA, New York Education Law, and related protections across K–12, post-secondary, and graduate education.
The Committee develops and presents CLE programs, hosts guest speakers, and provides input to WBASNY on legislative priorities and collaborates with other committees. We welcome WBASNY members with interest or expertise in these areas to help advance this mission.
