After a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, I am thrilled to invite you to join us for Read Across America on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 to celebrate literacy and in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Members of the Central New York Women’s Bar Association will be reading IN PERSON to children at Main Street Early Education Program, with a possibility of another participating school in the coming weeks.   Please sign up TODAY to read to a classroom of children who will especially appreciate a visitor!

For those of you who are not familiar with this program, for many years we have partnered with select local schools to send our volunteer readers and donate new books to their libraries on behalf of the CNYWBA.  This year we will be reading at Main Street, East Syracuse Elementary (date TBD) and donating books to both schools.  We will also be donating books to the Van Duyn Elementary library.

The time slots are each 30 minutes, but you may finish up earlier.  Please plan to arrive at the school at least 10 minutes early to allow time for parking and visitor sign-in procedures at the main office, as well as transit to the classroom.

You are welcome to bring your own book or use a book chosen by the teacher to read to the children.  While Read Across America is a celebration of Dr. Seuss, Dr. Seuss books are an option but not required.  For more information on Read Across America you can learn more at: https://www.nea.org/professional-excellence/student-engagement/read-across-america
