WBASNY Celebrates Legislation Enhancing Workplace Harassment Protections

August 16, 2019

As WBASNY advances its mission to ensure women are protected from harassment and sexual assault, we celebrate and thank Governor Cuomo for signing legislation (S.6577, Biaggi/ A.8421, Simotas)  that advances women’s rights and continues to fulfill New York’s obligation to fight for gender equity. The legislation signed this week strengthens protections for victims of sexual harassment in the workplace and seeks to eliminate obstacles for those individuals pursuing judicial recourse.

These reforms in New York’s sexual harassment laws build on the state’s nation leading efforts to combat sexual harassment and to guarantee survivors have the support and tools required to hold abusers accountable when seeking justice.

As an organization committed to protecting the rights of women and ending all forms of discrimination within the state and worldwide, WBASNY is grateful that New York and its leadership have made our state a national leader in the fight against sexual harassment in the workplace.
