The United Nation’s 65th Annual Commission on the Status of Women, along with the International Women’s Rights Committee of WBASNY present “Self-Defined: Our Self Image on Our Own Terms”. NCWBA Board Member Heather Kalachman, Esq. will be moderating a virtual film screening and panel discussion of “The Illusionists,” a film about international body-image and beauty ideals by feminist and activist, Elena Rossini. Ms. Rossini will be one of the speakers following the film. The film showcases cultural stigma facing women and girls who are led to believe that they must look a certain way in order to be accepted in mainstream society. The panel will broadly address how the objectification of women in the media is inextricably linked to women’s disempowerment and how women and girls can be game changers and become more empowered to control their own body image choices reflecting strength and freedom from exploitation.
